Ontario is a favored destination for immigrants seeking settlement in Canada due to its high population and vibrant economic activities. The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) offers immigrants with the right skills and experience a chance to obtain provincial nominations, facilitating the request for permanent residence through Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
The OINP has been designed to address specific shortages in various areas. It assists potential immigrants in competing, succeeding, settling, and integrating within the community. The program features both base and enhanced streams. Enhanced streams are aligned with the Express Entry Systems, while base streams are not.
Three categories are available for those pursuing permanent residency in Ontario:
This category caters to skilled workers, tradespersons, and French-speaking skilled workers. International graduates from an Ontario University with a Master’s or Ph.D. can apply. A job offer or experience is required to apply through this category.
Applicants receiving nominations through Ontario Express Entry receive an extra 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points and are eligible for an Invitation to Apply in the subsequent Express Entry draw. Graduate Streams are not aligned with Express Entry and require creating a profile and registering an expression of interest.
This category comprises three programs:
This pilot is part of the Employer Job Offer Category, designed to attract immigrants to rural communities for labor needs. Applicants with job offers in pilot communities (Chatham-Kent, Belleville, Quinte West, Cornwall) can apply.
This category targets individuals starting or buying businesses in Ontario.
